Campus Information

A great deal of the past success of Boys State is credited to complete cooperation by our students. It is necessary that you observe
the following rules to help assure that the program will continue on a high level of excellence.

  1. You are herewith placed on the HONOR SYSTEM. You are challenged to watch your conduct at all times.
  2. You are to remain on Campus at all times, except in cases of emergency. Permission to leave Campus must be obtained from Boys State Headquarters.
  3. You will attend all classes.
  4. LONG PANTS ARE TO BE WORN TO ALL EVENING ASSEMBLIES OR OTHER FORMAL MEETINGS.
  5. Fraternizing with college students, employees, or girls from off campus is not permitted.
  6. Smoking, alcohol or use of other chemical substances is prohibited.
  7. Make your bed and help keep your room in good order. Keep the dormitories and campus clean. Deposit empty pop cans in recycling containers. Daily inspections will be made. Boys State has a reputation for neatness, cleanliness, and courtesy. You will be charged for any malicious, physical damage to school property.
  8. Each citizen is responsible for his personal belongings.
  9. THE COLLEGE STUDENT UNION IS "OFF CAMPUS" DURING SCHEDULED ACTIVITIES, EXCEPT FROM 3:00 TO 5:00 P.M. OR BY SPECIAL PERMISSION FROM YOUR COUNSELOR.
  10. Sick Call and Emergencies - Report to your counselor or to the medical officer.
  11. YOU MUST TAKE COMPLETE SHOWER BEFORE ENTERING SWIMMING POOL AND WEAR SWIMMING TRUNKS. SHORTS AND CUTOFFS ARE NOT PERMITTED.
  12. Letter and Mail Call - Let your parents know you arrived safely. Keep them, your school and sponsoring Post informed of what you are doing. The correct address for receiving mail is:

    1501 State St.
    Marshall, MN  56258

    Your counselor will name a City Postmaster, who will pick up all mail for the city once daily at Boys State Headquarters.

  13. Guests are welcome but should report to your counselor. No room can be provided for them to stay overnight. The Dining Hall is open to the public and visitors may purchase meals there.
  14. You are expected to help maintain the Boys State record of excellence.

Please note that Boys State no longer has any requirements
about length of cut of hair.
